Wacky Health Trends

Just like the world of funky fashion trends, there are a large number of wacky health trends happening right now.  While some of them may seem legit to health-conscious people, they may also seem totally crazy to others.

Let’s take a look at what’s trending!

Coffee with butter.

In 2009, entrepreneur Dave Asprey invented his patented Bulletproof Coffee after going from overweight to wellness-obsessed.  His original recipe calls for low-mold coffee beans, 2 tbsp of unsalted butter, and 1 or 2 tbsp of MCT oil.  Though it took a couple of years to make its way into the market, Bulletproof Coffee will be opening its first shop in LA this year.  Even though a cup of this product will cost you a whopping 450 calories, celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow swear by its ability for mild clarity and to add a bit of pep to your day.

Cricket flour.

This new product to hit the market is exactly what it sounds like.  Crickets crushed into a fine, flour-like powder.  Apparently, cricket flour is chalk-full of beneficial nutrients like iron, calcium, protein and B12.  As a more sustainable source of protein, compared to chicken or fish, cricket flour is a great alternative to those wanting to watch their ecological footprint.

Snail facials.

Snail facials are all the rage right now.  Even though dermatologists don’t believe these kinds of facials have any lasting effects, snail mucus contains antioxidants and nutrients that help you get a youthful glow.  Snail facials are not only pricey but slightly terrifying, too!
